I am an NHS accredited health coach based in Hartford, Cheshire. I work online and face to face with my clients to help them in all aspects of their health journey.

But what exactly is a health coach and what can I help you with?

I work with women who need help in the following areas:

Being an NHS health coach means that I can help you with a wide range of health and wellbeing goals, but here are some of the most common areas that I can support you in:

    1. Managing long-term conditions:

    • If you have a long-term condition like diabetes, heart disease, or respiratory problems, as an NHS accredited health coach I can help you develop and implement self-management strategies. This might include things like setting goals for improving your diet, exercise, or medication adherence.

    2. Losing weight and improving diet with personalised nutrition advice and plans:

    • If you’re looking to lose weight or improve your diet, an NHS accredited health coach can help you create a personalized plan that fits your lifestyle and preferences. I will always do my best to provide the support and motivation you need to help you stay on track.

As a health coach and personal trainer I am very well equipped to help tailor a nutrition plan that will suit your everyday life, personal circumstances and food likes and dislikes.

    3. Increasing physical activity:

    • If you’re not very active, an NHS accredited health coach can help you find ways to incorporate more physical activity into your day. This could include things like starting a walking program, joining a gym, or trying a new type of exercise class.

I am also a Northwich and Hartford based personal trainer, so I have lots of experience in finding ways to help you enjoy exercise and begin to make it a daily part of your life. The benefits of regular exercise are unsurpassed by any medication, so to find something that you love, and make it a part of your lifestyle, can be the biggest single way you can achieve better overall health and longevity.

    4. Managing stress and anxiety:

    • Stress and anxiety can have a negative impact on your health. An NHS accredited health coach can teach you coping mechanisms and relaxation techniques to help you manage stress and improve your overall well-being. I can give you the tools to help you work to improve your stress responses and live a more balanced life.
    • Stress, while a natural response to challenges, can have significant negative impacts on your health when it becomes chronic or overwhelming.

Here are some of the key areas where stress can harm you:

      Physical health:
    • Increased risk of chronic diseases: Chronic stress can elevate cortisol levels, a stress hormone linked to high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. It can also weaken the immune system, making us more susceptible to infections and illnesses.
    • Digestive issues: Stress can disrupt digestion, leading to stomach upset, diarrhea, constipation, or irritable bowel syndrome.
    • Headaches and muscle tension: Headaches and muscle tension are common physical manifestations of stress, further impacting our comfort and daily activities.
    • Sleep problems: Stress can make it difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep, leading to fatigue, poor concentration, and decreased mood.
    • Sexual health: Stress can affect libido, arousal, and orgasm in both men and women.

      Mental health:
    • Anxiety and depression: Chronic stress is a major risk factor for developing anxiety and depression. These conditions can significantly impact our mood, thoughts, and behaviors.
    • Increased irritability and anger: Stress can make us more easily frustrated and prone to angry outbursts, impacting relationships and overall well-being.
    • Poor concentration and productivity: Stress can cloud our thinking and make it difficult to focus, impacting job performance and learning.
    • Addiction and risky behaviors: People experiencing chronic stress may turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms like smoking, alcohol abuse, or overeating to manage their emotional discomfort.

      Overall well-being:
    • Reduced quality of life: Chronic stress can negatively affect our relationships, work, hobbies, and overall enjoyment of life.
    • Burnout: When stress becomes persistent and overwhelming, it can lead to burnout, a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion.

    5. Smoking cessation:

    • If you’re trying to quit smoking, as an NHS accredited health coach, I can provide support and guidance to help you increase your chances of success.

    6. Improving sleep:

    • Getting enough sleep is important for both your physical and mental health. An NHS accredited health coach can help you identify and address any factors that might be interfering with your sleep and develop healthy sleep habits.

    7. Making lifestyle changes:

    • If you’re looking to make any other lifestyle changes, such as reducing your alcohol intake or spending more time in nature, I can help you create a plan and provide support along the way.

Ultimately, what I can help you with as a health coach will depend on your individual needs and goals. However, I am highly trained to provide support and guidance to help you improve your health and well-being.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind about NHS accredited health coaches:

    • I typically work with you one-on-on face to face, online or in small groups.
    • I will use a variety of techniques, such as motivational interviewing, goal setting, and problem-solving.
